Nominal accounts and transactions settings

You will have entered the settings for your nominal accounts and transactions when your first configured Sage 200, but you may want to review or change these.

Decisions to make about your nominal settings

  1. Do you want to print cheques when you enter cash payments?

When this is turned on, a cheque will be printed, by default, every time you enter a cash payment. You can turn this off per payment, on the payment screens (Nominal Vatable Payment or Nominal Non-Vatable Payment).

  2. Do you want to use budget profiles with your accounts?

These are useful if you need to weight certain periods more than others to account for seasonal or market trends. These are useful if you have higher or lower expenditure at certain periods of the year, such as during the school holidays or at the start of the school year.

  3. Do you want to submit your VAT Return directly to the HMRC from Sage 200?

In the UK, if you have submitted your VAT Return online, you must also pay your VAT online. If you use the Sage e-Banking service, you can do this directly from Sage 200.

  4. Do you want to consolidate with a parent companyreporting company?

You'll only see this option if you've selected a parent companyreporting company on the Company Management screen. This allows the balances of your nominal accounts to be posted to the selected companyreporting company for consolidated reporting.
