Cancelling works orders

Note - information

We recommend that you only use this option if the works order status is Entered, Allocated or Issued.

When you cancel a works order, you cannot process that works order any further.

Upon cancellation, any stock allocation entries are reversed and, where appropriate, issues are returned to stock.

Once cancelled, the works order cannot have stock issued to it, or be marked as completed.

Note - danger

Do not cancel a part-completed works order. If you want to complete and close the part of the works order which has been finished, you must do this through the Complete Works Order option, followed by the Close Works Order option. Enter the completed quantity for the individual works order and select the check box Complete works order regardless of quantity. This will prompt you to confirm that you want to return unused components to stock and when you confirm this, the outstanding quantity is returned into stock. The order will be marked as complete and you can then close the works order and post the nominal adjustments correctly.

To cancel works orders

Open: Works Orders > Records > Cancel Works Order.

  1. Select the required works order from the drop-down list.
  2. If the works order has been part completed, or is being made to satisfy sales orders, select what you want to do with issued component stock.
  3. To continue, click OK.
  4. The works order status changes to cancelled.

Allocations are reversed and issues are returned to stock.

Any necessary adjustments in stock are made directly in the Stock Control module.

  5. If the works order is being made to satisfy sales orders, choose how you want to handle any sales orders attached to the works order.
  6. Click OK to complete the cancellation.
