Edit a target for a feature

You can edit an existing feature target A target is the action associated with a feature. Each feature must have a target in order to do something. For example, a target could be to open a form (window), produce a report, run any OS Invocable (any application or process you can access through the Run option in the Microsoft Windows Start menu), open a workspace (an area on your desktop which can contain several panels of information from Sage 200 modules), or open a content part (an area of a workspace). All features installed with Sage 200 and with any add-on packages have targets added automatically. that you have added.

The target can be set to display that feature for the Sage 200 desktop or Web Portal, or for both.

  • If the feature target only has a Target Action set and does not have the Target Web URL set, the feature is only available in the Sage 200 desktop.

  • If the feature target only has a Target Web URL set and does not have the Target Action set, the feature is only available in the Web Portal.

  • If the feature target has both the Target Action and Target Web URL set, the feature is available in both the Sage 200 desktop and Web Portal.

Edit a target

Open: System Administration > Features

  1. Select the feature group, then select the feature.

  2. Select the Targets tab in Feature Properties, then select the target and select Properties.

    You can amend any of the properties.

  3. Set the Target Name.

    Use a name that helps you identify the target action.

  4. Set the Target Type and Target Action.

    The details that you need to enter will depend on the Target Type.

    Note: If the form (page) is only available in the Web Portal and not the Sage 200 desktop, you don't need to set a target action. You must set the Web Portal page in the Target Web URL

  5. The Target GUID uniquely identifies the target to the feature.

    Note: The Target GUID is not related to the feature GUID.

  6. Enter a Target Description for information about the target.

  7. Select the Target Launcher, if your Target Type is Form (for the Sage 200 desktop only).

    The target launcher A program which is used to open the form (window) identified by the target. is responsible for opening the form.

    • If you're using a supplied launcher, select the Target Launcher from the list.

      The default launcher is Sage.MMS.Launcher.Stub.

    • If you have written your own launcher, you can enter it here.

    If the form (page) is only available in the Web Portal and not the Sage 200 desktop, you can leave the Target Launcher blank.

  8. Enter a Target Web URL for forms (pages) or lists that are displayed in the Web Portal.

    • The URL is the path to the Web Portal page, for example sales/view-customer.

    • The URL can only contain lower case characters, single hyphens (-), and single forward slashes (/).

    • For customised pages, the URL must start with extensions/ and this will be added if it is missing.

    Note - information

    This feature is only available from Sage 200 Professional 2023 R2 version onwards.

  9. Click Save to confirm the target entries.
