Product group discount

You can only access this screen if you have selected Use product group discounts in the Price Book settings.

Use this to create discounts for all stock items in a product group. The discount applies to all stock items linked to the product group, irrespective of the stock item selling unit. For example, the discount is applied whether the item is sold as a single item, or in boxes of ten, or cases of six.

You can only set these discounts as a Percentage. This can be set as flat rate or based on quantity.

Setting up your discount is two step process:

  1. Create the discounts for your product groups.

  2. Link the discount to a customer or customer discount group.

    For customer or a group, you select the stock item and the discount.

Enter product group discounts

Open: Price Book > Discounts > Discounts for Product Group.

  1. Select the Product group.

    Any product group discount or other discounts relating specifically to the item are displayed.

  2. Click Add or Duplicate.
  3. Enter a unique name for the discount.

  4. Enter the flat rate discount amount or quantity break discounts.

    If you use quantity break discounts:

    • Enter the number of items that define the quantity break in Quantity Of or More Than
    • Enter a discount Value for each quantity break.
    • Use the Modifier to choose whether the value (for percentage or amount) is applied as a Discount or a Surcharge.

    Note: If you want to remove a quantity break discount, select the discount, and click Delete.

  5. Click OK.

    Note: If there is more than one discount value the system checks that lower prices (or larger discounts) are offered for larger quantities.

Link to customers

This screen is only available if you've not chosen to use Customer Discount Groups in the settings.

Open: Price Book > Discounts > Link Discounts to a Customer.

  1. Select the customer.
  2. Choose the stock items the customer receives a discount for.
  3. Choose the relevant discount.

Click Link to Groups at the bottom of the screen when you add your discount, or:

Open: Price Book > Discount Groups > Link Discounts to Customer Discount Group.

  1. Select the discount group.
    1. Select Product Group Discounts.
    2. Click Add.
      • Select the Product group and Discount.
    3. Click Save.

      4. Note: If the discount is already linked to another discount group, confirm that you want to link the discount to this discount group instead.

    1. Select Product Group Discounts.
    2. Select the discounts that you want to remove.

      3. Tip: To select multiple items, use the Ctrl key to pick individual items, or hold down the Shift key to select a block of items.

    3. Click Remove.
  4. Click Close.
