Within Manufacturing, you can:
Note: You cannot update operations The labour, machine and tool processes required to manufacture an item. if you are using version control.
Use this option to update BOM A stock assembly and process costing system, which provides facilities to specify the structure of finished items in terms of sub-assemblies and components. operation details automatically, with operation details from the Operations Register.
Note: Whilst this option is in use, you and other Sage 200 users cannot use any other option in Bill of Materials, Labour Register, Machine Register, Tool Register and Operations Register.
If version control is in use, a new BOM will be created.
Note: If you have selected Allow Active BOMs to be amended in the BOM Settings General tab, and details are being updated in active BOMs, a new BOM is not created. The details in the active BOM will be updated.
Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Operations Register > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Operation Details.
Note: You can also access Update Operation Details from the Bill of Materials > Utilities > Maintenance menu.
- Select the operations you want to use to update the BOM operations.
- Select the properties you want to update in the BOM operations.
- Select Update manually amended operations if you want to overwrite BOM operation details that have been amended manually.
- Click OK to display the Enter Bills of Materials window.
- Select the BOMs you want to update.
- Click OK to update the BOM operation details for the selected BOMs.
You can update overlap/shrinkage details, runtime defaults, delay details, notes, resources and subcontract details.

You can update cost rates on resources, operations and BOM A stock assembly and process costing system, which provides facilities to specify the structure of finished items in terms of sub-assemblies and components. operations, based on the current cost rates defined on resource groups, resources or operation records. If you choose to update BOM operations, you are prompted to select the relevant BOM records to update.
You can choose the source and target record types for the update. Target record cost rates are only updated when there is a direct association with the source record type.
For example, if you are updating operations or BOM operations from a resource group, updates are only made on operations and BOM operations, if the operation Resource Type is the same resource group.

If you want to update resources on the operations and BOM operations, you must update the operation values directly from the resource values, as follows:

Note: If Operations Register is your source record type, you do not need to select a target record type as the target can only be the Bill of Materials Operations.

Select Update manually amended rates (Operations Register and Bill of Materials Operations only) if you want to overwrite any rates that have been amended manually.
Note: You can only select this if Operations Register or Bill of Materials Operations are selected as a target record type.
- Click OK.

If you selected to update Bill of Material Operations, the Enter Bills of Materials window appears.
- Select the BOMs that you want to update.
- Click OK to update the selected BOM operations.
Note: We recommend that you recost your BOMs.
You can change the hourly rates attached to all of your labour categories or to a specific labour category Used to group employees according to their function or skill within the production process. For example, apprentices, fitters or supervisors. This grouping can be used when entering timesheet information or in the Operation Times module..
The changes do not apply to existing estimates Forecast project costs, based on expected costs of labour, machinery and operation times. In Manufacturing, estimates are produced for one-off items or non-repetitive batches..
Open: Estimating > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Employees.
- Enter the Percentage you require to increase or decrease the rate.
- Select the employees to apply the rate change to:
- To apply the rate change to all employees, select All Employees.
- To apply the rate change to a specific category, clear All Employees and select the Category from the drop-down list.
- To complete the changes, click OK.
- Confirm the change when prompted.
Use this option to can change hourly rates in all labour categories at once. The changes do not apply to existing estimates Forecast project costs, based on expected costs of labour, machinery and operation times. If you only want to change rates for certain employee categories, use Update Employees instead.
Open: Estimating > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Labour Categories.
- Enter the Percentage you require to increase or decrease the rate.
- To complete the changes, click OK.
- Confirm the change when prompted.
Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Stage Templates > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Stage Templates.
- Select the check boxes for the options you want to update.
- Select the Stage Templates tab and select the Stage Templates to update.
- To perform the selected updates, click OK.
You can update machine resource details with the details currently held on the resource group. Whilst this option is in use, no other option in the Machine Register can be used.
Note: Following this, you may also want to update operations with resource changes. You can do this by updating operation details and operation rates.
Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Machine Register > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Machine Resource Details.
- Select the resource groups that you want to use to update the resource details.
- Select the properties that you want to update in the resources.
- Click OK.
You can update tool resource details with the details currently held on the resource group. Whilst this option is in use, no other option in the Tool Register can be used.
Note: Following this, you may also want to update operations with resource changes. You can do this by updating operation details and operation rates.
Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Tool Register > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Tool Resource Details.
- Select the resource groups that you want to use to update the resource details.
- Select the properties that you want to update in the resources.
- Click OK.
You can update labour resource details with the details currently held on the resource group. Whilst this option is in use, no other option in the Labour Register can be used.
Note: Following this, you may also want to update operations with resource changes. You can do this by updating operation details and operation rates.
Open: Manufacturing System Manager > Labour Register > Utilities > Maintenance > Update Labour Resource Details.
- Select the resource groups that you want to use to update the resource details.
- Select the properties that you want to update in the resources.
- Click OK.
You can replace components in many works orders at the same time, using the Replace Component option.
Open: Works Orders > Utilities > Maintenance > Replace Component.
- In the Replace area, select the Product Code for the item you want to be replaced from the drop-down list.
- In the With area, select the Product Code for the item to use as a replacement from the drop-down list.
- Confirm the replacement when prompted.
The Description appears automatically.
The Description appears automatically.
Note: The replacement item must support the same unit of measure as the original item. Even if it does, it may not be a suitable alternative item. In this case, you must confirm the replacement when you click OK.
Manufacturing finds all works orders which contain the part to be replaced and substitutes the new item.
Note: Use the Bill of Materials Replace Components option to replace components in BOMs.
