Replace components in a BOM
You can replace a component, sub-assembly or phantom BOM in a BOM A stock assembly and process costing system, which provides facilities to specify the structure of finished items in terms of sub-assemblies and components.. You can amend all records or select the individual records that you want to amend.
You can replace components in BOMs that are on hold, but you can choose not to do this.
You cannot replace components in BOMs if the BOM replacement component does not use the same unit and precision as that being replaced.
If you are using version control, you cannot replace components in BOMs if:
- The BOM is checked out to another user.
- The BOM is obsolete.
- The BOM is retired.
After replacing components you can choose to recost the BOMs.
Note: The BOMs only include the price of replaced components when they are recosted.
If version control is in use, a new BOM will be created, checked out to the user who is replacing the component.
Note: If you have selected Allow Active BOMs to be amended in the BOM Settings General tab, and a component in an active BOM is being replaced, a new BOM is not created. The active BOM will be updated with the replaced component.
