Open accounting periods

To open accounting periods

When you open an accounting period, Sage 200 updates the appropriate entries from the deferred postings file.

Open: Accounting System Manager > Accounting Periods > Maintain Accounting Periods.

  • To open a period for a single module, select the period and click Change Period Status.

You'll be asked to confirm that you want to open the period.

  • To open a period for all modules, select any module in that period and click Open All.

You'll be asked to confirm that you want to open the periods.

This will open all modules in that period that are currently set to Future. The Open All option will only be available if there are modules set to Future in that period.

    Note - information

This feature is only available from Sage 200 Professional Spring 2019 version onwards.

Why can't I open an accounting period?

If you can't open an accounting period, check that:

  • You have permissions to change the period status.

Permissions are set in Accounting System Manager > Accounting Periods > Maintain Accounting Period User Permissions.

  • If you can't select the option to Change Period Status:
    • There are no earlier periods with a status of Future. The previous period must be Closed or Open.
    • You haven't exceeded the Number of open accounting periods set in the System Settings.
  • The Open All option will only be available if there are modules set to Future in that period.
