Add an accounting period
About adding an accounting period
Use this to add an accounting period. You can add an accounting period if:
- The new period end date is not already in use by a period.
- The period directly after the period you want to add, does not have a status of Closed. The period would need to be re-opened first.
Outcomes
- If the date meets all the conditions specified, a new accounting period is added to the financial year.
- The new period is set up with the same status as the period that follows it.
- If your nominal accounts use budgets, a zero budget value is created for the new period.
- If the date of the new period falls after the last period of the financial year, the financial year can be extended to include the period or the period can be added into the next financial year.
