Set up the Intrastat declaration
Notify tax authority
Notify your tax authority that you will be submitting Intrastat declarations. You may need to register on their web portal to submit your declarations to them.
Set up Sage 200
Before you can produce either Intrastat declaration you need to have Sage 200 generate the entries that will go into your declaration files. There are separate controls to switch on the collection of sales and purchase Intrastat entries.
If your sales or purchases are at a level where you also need to provide terms of delivery information, you must select to include that information. You can also apply default codes to all your Intrastat entries for terms of delivery, nature of transaction, and mode of transport (Ireland only).
You need to add commodity information to each of your stock records, which is collated each time the Intrastat entries are generated. On each of your stock records you add:
- An Intrastat commodity code that describes the product.
- An indication of either:
- The weight of the item per stock unit, rounded up to the nearest kilogram.
- The number of supplementary units that form the item. For example, the number of pairs of contact lenses in a batch.
- The country of origin of the product.
