Write off categories (stock settings)
You can create write off categories to monitor in more detail why stock is written off. You may want to monitor reasons such as damaged stock or faulty stock.
There is one default write off category, Written Off. This category uses the default nominal account Stock Write Off to post the value of the written off stock for profit and loss purposes. You can use this to account for all written off stock or you can create your own categories here.
Maintain write off categories
Open: Stock Control > Utilities > System Set Up > Stock Control Settings | Write Off Categories.
- Select Add to create a new write off category.
- Enter the Name of the category.
- Select the nominal account for the written off stock value from the Write Off account drop-down list.
- Click OK to save the category.
- To change a write off category, select the item and click Edit.
- To remove a write off category, select the item and click Delete.
