Creating/updating BOM
(Batch Works Orders Only)
For batch works orders, as you can amend the working BOM A stock assembly and process costing system, which provides facilities to specify the structure of finished items in terms of sub-assemblies and components., you can also update the amendments. You can write these amendments back to the Bill of Materials module. This can be either as an update to the original BOM, or as a completely new BOM.
Warning! If you use this option before you have completed the works order, all amendments to the working BOM may not be copied to the Bill of Materials module. For example, components that have been issued on the amended working BOM are copied, while components that have just been added or allocated are not. For this reason, we recommend you update BOMs and copy amendments to the Bill of Materials module when you have completed the works order (i.e. all components have been issued).
Note: If you are using BOM version control and the Version Number Increment is set to 0 (zero) in the BOM Settings General tab, you cannot use this option.
To update the BOM
Open: Works Orders > Processing > Update BOM.
- Select the required works order from the drop-down list.

To update the original BOM and replace the existing information, select Replace existing Bill of Material details.
This replaces any information you had previously for this bill of materials.
- To write a new bill of materials, clear the Replace existing Bill of Material details check box. Choose a product to create the new bill of materials for.
- Select an existing product in the Stock Control module from the BOM Reference drop-down list, or
- Create a new product by clicking New Product, and entering the details in the Stock Control module directly.
- To confirm the amendments, click OK.
