Search categories (stock record)
Open: Stock Control > Stock Records > Enter New Stock Item | Search Categories.
Search categories are used to help you search for stock items without knowing the item's stock code. A search category consists of:
- A category. This is the type such as colour, size or voltage.
- A value. This is the specifics of the category such as green, red and blue for the category colour.
The search categories shown here are inherited from the product group. Just choose the value most appropriate for this stock item.
Setting up
If you want to use search categories you must:
- Select Allow searching using search categories and values in the Stock Control Settings.
- Create a list of search categories and associated values.
- Choose which search categories are used on each product group
- Choose each search category value on the stock item.
- Click to use the search categories to find your stock items.
