Create a new project
Open: Project Accounting > Projects > Create Project.
- If you manually enter codes for your projects, enter the Code.
- Enter a Title for the project
- Choose how to create your project:
Create a new blank project - If you manually enter codes for your projects, enter the project's Code.
Select Create a blank project.
The project levels that you have defined are displayed.
Select a project level from the list, then click Create project.
The new project will be created with the settings defined in the project level.
Note: If WIP is enabled in Project Accounting Settings, and the entries cascaded, the WIP settings are inherited from the project item, but you can change these in the project. If Use Specified has been selected, you will not be able to amend these in the project.
Create a project from an existing project record (copying a live or archived project).- Enter a Title for the project.
To copy a live project, select Copy a live project.
A list of live projects are displayed. Select the project to copy from the list.
To copy an archived project, select Copy an archived project.
A list of archived projects is displayed. Select the project from the list.
Note: If you are using project statuses, the statuses from the archived project are applied to the new project. If you want to enter cost and revenue transactions for the new project, you must change the status of the project and project items to a status that allows costs and /or revenue.
Click Create project.
A copy of the selected project will be created, including the project's structure, statuses, budget information, contacts and attachments.
Note: If WIP is enabled in Project Accounting Settings and WIP is enabled for the live or archived project, the WIP settings in the copy project are inherited from the live or archived project.
Create a project from project template.Select Copy a project template.
The project templates that you have created are displayed.
- Select the project template to use from the list.
Click Create project.
A project is created based on the information in the template.
Note: If WIP is enabled in Project Accounting Settings, and the entries cascaded, the WIP settings are inherited from the project item, but you can change these in the project. If Use Specified has been selected, you will not be able to amend these in the project.

Create your project structure

Select the category of item that you want to add to the structure, from the Project item type column on the left.
- To copy live or archived project, select Copy Existing Project.
Note: If WIP is enabled in Project Accounting Settings, and the entries cascaded, the WIP settings are inherited from the project item, but you can change these in the project. If Use Specified has been selected, you will not be able to amend these in the project.
- To use a project template, select Project Templates.
Note: If WIP is enabled in Project Accounting Settings, and the entries cascaded, the WIP settings are inherited from the project item, but you can change these in the project. If Use Specified has been selected, you will not be able to amend these in the project.

To add an existing project as a sub-project, select Move Project.
When WIP is enabled in project accounting, the movement of sub-projects into projects depends on whether the project has WIP enabled or not. You cannot add a sub-project that has WIP enabled to a project that does not have WIP enabled.
Note: If you are using project statuses, the statuses from a copied live or archived project are applied to the new sub-project. See Apply a status to your projects, groups and items. If WIP is enabled in Project Accounting Settings and if the project is enabled for WIP, the WIP settings are inherited from the live or archived project.
- To add a new project level, select Project Levels.
- To add a grouping level, select Group Levels.
- To add a project item type, select Project Item Types.
The items available in your selected category are displayed in the centre column.
If you have selected a project item type or a grouping level, you can create a new project item or group by clicking New.

To add an item to the structure, highlight the item and click Select.
The item is added to the structure at the highlighted point.
Note: To move the item in the structure, either click and drag the item, or use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
- To remove an item, highlight the item in the project structure and click Remove. The item is removed from the project.

Add items to your project structure as required. When you have finished setting up your structure, click Close to save the project structure.
You will be returned to the Amend Project window, where you can enter the details for the items in your project structure.
You can also create a project from a sales orders or a quotation.
