Substituting components

If you selected Allow substitutions on the Allocation or Build tab in the BOM Settings, you can swap components with alternative components.

Note: There is no change to the quantity, only the component.

To substitute components

Open: Processing > New Allocation or Processing > Record Built Items.

1. Add Bill of Materials to Allocate or Bill of Materials to Build.
2. Click Process.
3. Select the component in the Components list.

4. Click Substitute Item.

   The Substitute Component window appears.

5. Select the Code for the Substitute component.

   Note: Only stock items that are set up as alternative items for the component stock will be displayed. Set up alternative items in the Stock Control module.

   The Name appears automatically.

6. Click OK.

   The component is substituted with the alternative component.

   If the component appears on multiple BOM records then there is a separate row for each quantity required.
