About resequencing
Each BOM A stock assembly and process costing system, which provides facilities to specify the structure of finished items in terms of sub-assemblies and components. holds details of components Raw materials used to manufacture finished goods. and operations The labour, machine and tool processes required to manufacture an item.. Sequence numbers determine the sequence in which BOMs are processed and displayed on reports. Sequence numbers are applied automatically to components or operations as you add them to a BOM.
The default pattern for the sequence numbers applied in the BOM record is set here in the BOM settings.
By default, sequence numbers are set in ascending numerical order, starting from 1.00, in steps of 1 (e.g. 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, and so on). You can apply new sequence numbers to components or operations when required. Use the resequencing settings to specify new sequence numbers and defined steps for the sequence numbers. Incrementing by a number other than 1.00, e.g. 5.00 or 10.00, leaves a gap between sequence numbers. New components or operations fit into the sequence easily, since there are already gaps available in the numbering.
You can manually resequence the numbers for existing components and operations in a BOM record. To do this, open the BOM record, then select Resequence on the Components or Operations tab.
Set up defaults for resequencing
Open: Bill of Materials > Utilities > System Set Up > Bill of Materials Settings | Resequencing.
Components
Enter the following settings for components:
Enter the number to start resequencing components from. You can start at any positive number. If you are unsure, set to resequence starting from 1. You can change this at any time.
Enter a number for the intervals between the components. You can enter any positive number. For example, if your Starting at number is 5 and you enter 3 for In intervals of, resequencing will give components in the sequence: 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20 and so on.
If you are unsure, set to 1. You can change this at any time.
If you want to resequence the components Raw materials used to manufacture finished goods. of a BOM A stock assembly and process costing system, which provides facilities to specify the structure of finished items in terms of sub-assemblies and components. in stock code order, select this check box. This is useful if you make amendments to your list of components.
Operations
Enter the following settings for operations:
Enter the number to start resequencing operations from. You can start at any positive number. If you are unsure, set to resequence starting from 1. You can change this at any time.
Enter a positive number for the intervals between operations. You can enter any number. For example, if your Starting at number is 10 and you enter 5 for In intervals of, resequencing will give operations in the sequence: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on.
If you are unsure, set to 1. You can change this at any time.
If you want to resequence the manufacturing operations The labour, machine and tool processes required to manufacture an item. in reference order, select this check box. This is useful if you make changes in the list of operations.
Note: You can set decimal precision for sequence numbers using the Sequencing tab in Manufacturing System Manager System Settings.
