Viewing actuals comparison

To view a comparison of planned and actual costs

Open: Bill of Materials > Records > Amend Bill of Materials | Costing.

Open: Bill of Materials > Enquiries > View Bill of Materials | Costing.

  1. Click Actuals Comparison.

The Planned vs. Actual Comparison window appears.

Default values entered in the Cost History Analysis Settings window are shown for Chart Data. You can change the values selected here.

  2. Select Chart Data options.

    From/To

This controls which costs are shown.

By default, the From date is the earliest cost session date in the Date Range selection in the Cost History Analysis Settings window. If you are using version control, the from date is the earliest cost session for the BOM version.

The To date defaults to today's date.

Note: Works Order dates are not considered for the default date range.

Select the From and To dates for the date range you want to see costs.

    Quantity

Select Quantity to filter the cost sessions displayed by quantity.

This is useful, for example, if you always cost new BOM versions, using a baseline quantity.

    • Select the operator (=, !=, <, <=, >, >=).
    • Enter the quantity. By default, this is the Default cost quantity on the BOM record Details tab.

    Show Sub-Assembly Costings

Select this to show any costings that resulted from the costing of a higher level BOM.

    Show Point Labels

Select this to add labels to the points plotted on the chart, showing the Quantity and Cost Price.

  3. To refresh the chart view, click Refresh Chart.
  4. To copy the graphical image, click Copy image to Clipboard.

You can then paste the image into a document or an email.

  5. To look at more detail on the charts:

    • Double-click on a BOM planned point in the chart to view the BOM Cost Breakdown window, or on a BOM actual point to open the View Build Record window for the BOM.
    • Note: You can also drill down on works order planned or works order actual points. This opens the Amend Works Order Record window.

    • Zoom into a section of the chart, by holding the left mouse button and selecting an area on the chart.
    • Use the arrows to scroll around the charts.
    • Zoom out, by clicking the icon at the top of the vertical axis and or the left of the horizontal axis.
  6. When you have finished viewing the analysis, click Close.
