Put sales returns on hold

You can put sales returns on hold, if you want to stop the returns being processed or printed. You can only put Live sales returns on hold, so you can't change the status of returns that are already Complete.

Open: Sales Order Processing > Sales Returns > Amend Sales Return Status

Select the sales returns.
Select On Hold to put the sales returns on hold.

The return status will change from Live to On hold.

Take sales returns off hold

You can take sales returns off hold if you have previously put the returns on hold, but you now want to continue to process the returns.

Open: Sales Order Processing > Sales Returns > Amend Sales Return Status

Select the sales returns.
Select Off Hold to take the returns off hold.

The return status will change from On hold to Live.

Cancel a sales return

To cancel a sales return, amend the return using Amend Sales Return, then select Cancel Return.

What does the sales return status mean?

Sales returns have one of these statuses, shown as the Return status or the Document status:

Live: The return has been generated and is in the process of being returned. Some credit notes still need to be posted for the return.
Completed: The return has been fully received and credited, or has been cancelled. Credit notes have been posted for the return, and the customer and nominal account balances have been updated.
On hold: The return has been put on hold to stop any further processing of the return.
