• Use the Search Categories tab to set up search categories for the stock item, which can help you find items if you don't know the item's code.

Select search categories for a stock item

Search categories are used to help you search for stock items without knowing the item's stock code.

• Search category: This is the type such as colour, size or voltage.

  The search categories displayed for the stock item are inherited from the stock item's product group.

• Search value: This is the specifics of the category such as green, red and blue for the category colour.

  For each Search category you can choose a Search value that's appropriate for this stock item, or leave it set to none if a category isn't applicable.

Once you've set up the search category values for your stock items, you can then search for stock items using the categories.
