Use the Pricing tab to choose the price bands a customer belongs to and to set the discounts a customer receives. You set up your price bands, selling prices and discounts using the Price Book in the Sage 200 desktop. If you've used the Price Book to link customers to price bands and discounts, this will be shown here.

When you change these options for a customer, they will only be applied to new orders or invoices for this customer, and will not be applied to any existing orders or invoices.

Discount options

Use these options to set the discounts that the customer receives by default. You can set these per invoice or order and per stock item.

These are only applicable if you're using invoicing or sales orders.

  • Invoice Discount.

Use this to apply a discount to the total net amount of the sales order or invoice.

This is useful if you want to automatically apply this discount percentage to all sales orders and invoices from this customer. But if you're only going to give this discount to the customer occasionally, leave this blank and enter the discount manually on the individual orders or invoices.

  • Line discount.

Use this to apply a discount to the net value of each item (line) on a sales order or invoice. This applies to standard stock items and free text items.

This is useful if you want to automatically apply a discount percentage to all sales orders and invoices from this customer. But if you're only going to give a discount to the customer occasionally, leave the discount blank and enter the discount manually on the individual orders or invoices.

Note: Line discounts can only be changed on an order or invoice by users with the appropriate permissions.

  • Discount group.

Use this to apply a discount when the customer orders a specific product (or group of products).

Note: This is only shown if you've selected Use customer discount groups in Price Book Settings in the Sage 200 desktop.

  • Invoice and order value discount.

Use this to apply a discount based on the amount that your customer orders.

Note: This is only shown if you've selected Use order value discounts in Price Book Settings in the Sage 200 desktop.

How discounts are applied

  • A line discount is applied to every line (item) on the invoice with a value.
  • If you manually enter a line discount (on an order or invoice) it will always override the default line discount, even if it is less than the other discounts.
  • An invoice discount is applied in addition to any line discounts.
  • A surcharge overrides all discounts except a special price (stock items only).
  • For stock items:
    • If both an invoice and order value discount and an invoice discount are applied - the best discount is used.
    • If a line discount, stock item and product group discount are all applicable - the best discount is applied to the line.
    • A special price overrides all other levels of discount on the line.
    • A mark up price will override all other discounts.
    • An invoice and order value discount is applied in addition to a line discount.

Price bands (selling prices)

Select the price bands that will be used to set the selling prices of stock items for this customer.

Universal price bands

Use the Price Band to select the Universal price band for this customer.

All customers must belong to at least one universal price band. This is because a universal price band contains prices for all stock items, so this ensures that a price is set for all stock items for every customer.

Every customer is linked to the Standard price band by default.

When you select a different price band, the customer is removed from the previous price band and added to the one you select.

Limited price bands

Limited price bands can be used for promotional and special prices. They only contain prices for selected stock items and can have time limits set.

  • Limited price bands are only used if you've selected Enable limited price bands in Price Book Settings in the Sage 200 desktop.
  • The price in the Limited price band takes priority over a price in a Universal price band.
  • When a customer is eligible for more than one limited price, the lowest price is used.

To link the customer to limited price bands:

  1. Select Add (by the Limited Price bands list).
  2. Select the limited price band.
