Set up company details

Before using Sage 200 you must enter your company details, such as your contact details and VAT registration number.

A company is identified in Sage 200 by its name. Sage 200 stores separate company details for each company that you create.

If you are working with multiple companies, you can consolidate your company accounts.

Company and contact details

Enter your company name, company address, and contact details.

Your company name appears on your reports, and is also displayed at the top of the Sage 200 application.

Note: To enter information in the City, County and Country boxes, you must have selected to Use Segmented addresses in the Operational Settings. See Set up operational settings.

VAT registration details

If your company is registered for VAT, enter your VAT registration details:

  1. Enter your company VAT registration no.

You must enter the VAT registration no because it is required to be printed on all invoices. This is especially important if you deal with companies in other EU member states.

  2. Select the Country code in which you are registered for VAT.

The Country code is used to determine the type of VAT Return produced.

    • If you are registered for VAT in the UK, select GB - Great Britain. Sage 200 will now produce a UK VAT Return

    • If you are registered for VAT in Ireland, select IE - Ireland. Sage 200 will now produce a VAT 3 file.

    • If your company is not a member of the EU, select the Non-European option.

    Note - warning

To be compliant with legislation and produce and accurate VAT return, we strongly recommend using the following combinations of country code and base currency in Sage 200:

    • UK: VAT country code GB - Great Britain, and base currency GBP - Pounds Sterling.
    • Ireland: VAT country code IE – Ireland, and base currency EUR - Euro.

EORI number for import and export

To move goods into or out of the EU you need an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number. This applies to UK companies trading in the EU, and Irish companies trading outside the EU. See www.gov.uk/eori (opens in a new tab).

  • Enter your company EORI Number if required.
