Set up stock item discount
You can only access this screen if you have selected Use stock item discounts in the Price Book settings.
Use this to create discounts for individual stock items. You can set up discounts as a Percentage, Amount or Special Price and these can be set as flat rate or based on quantity.
Setting up your discount is two step process:
- Create the discounts for your stock items.

Link the discount to a customer or a customer discount group.
For the customer or group, you select the stock item and the discount.
You want to set a special price of £120.00 and 10% discount on a stock item. Customer A receives the special price and Customer B receives the 10% discount.
To set this up:
- Create the Special Price discount:
- Give the discount a name.
- Select the Type as Special Price.
- Enter the 120 in the Flat Rate Discount box.
- Create the 10% discount:
- Select the Type as Percentage.
- Enter the 10 in the Flat Rate Discount box.
- Link the discount to customer A:
Open Discounts > Link Discounts to a Customer.
Select customer A.
Select the stock item.
Select the special price discount.
- Link the discount to customer B:
Open Discounts > Link Discounts to a Customer.
Select customer B.
Select the stock item.
Select the percentage discount.
Set up stock item discounts
Open: Price Book > Discounts > Discounts for Stock Item.

Select the stock item.
Any product group discount or other discounts relating specifically to the item are displayed.
- Click Add or Duplicate.
- Enter a unique name for the discount.

Select the selling unit.
If the stock item product group has multiple selling units (selling quantities or selling prices) enabled, the drop-down list contains the stock unit and all selling units for the item. The default is the stock unit.
If you've set a specific price for a selling unit on the stock item record, then only that unit will be shown here.
- Choose the type of discount; Percentage, Amount or Special Price.

If you specified the discount type as amount or special price, select the discount currency from the list of available currencies.

Enter a flat rate discount amount or quantity break discounts.
If you use quantity break discounts:
- Enter the number of items that define the quantity break in Quantity Of or More Than
- Enter a discount Value (or Price) for each quantity break.
- Use the Modifier to choose whether the value (for percentage or amount) is applied as a Discount or a Surcharge.
Note: If you want to remove a quantity break discount, select the discount, and click Delete.

Click OK.
Note: If there is more than one discount value the system checks that lower prices (or larger discounts) are offered for larger quantities.
Editing a discount
You can change the name, selling unit, and discount values (both flat rate and quantity break). You can't change the type or currency.
Link to customers
This screen is only available if you've not chosen to use Customer Discount Groups in the settings.
Open: Price Book > Discounts > Link Discounts to a Customer.
- Select the customer.
- Choose the stock items the customer receives a discount for.
- Choose the relevant discount.
Click Link to Groups at the bottom of the screen when you add your discount, or:
Open: Price Book > Discount Groups > Link Discounts to Customer Discount Group.
- Select the discount group.

To link discounts
- Select Product Group Discounts.
- Click Add.
- Select the Product group and Discount.
- Click Save.
Note: If the discount is already linked to another discount group, confirm that you want to link the discount to this discount group instead.

To unlink discounts
- Select Product Group Discounts.
- Select the discounts that you want to remove.
- Click Remove.
Tip: To select multiple items, use the Ctrl key to pick individual items, or hold down the Shift key to select a block of items.
- Click Close.
